Made by Mitchell Electrics Palette review for brown skin

The Electrics Palette Review

Is it all hype—or an underrated artist’s tool?

For some time now, I’ve been wanting to bring more color back into my makeup world. While I’ve been manifesting pigment, my FYP has been flooded with videos featuring Made by Mitchell products—and this brand is nothing but color.

It’s exciting to see a newer brand that feels rooted in artistry, not just trend-chasing. I finally gave in and ordered the Electrics Palette—not once, but accidentally twice (more on that later). So after all that? I had high hopes.

First Impressions: It Did Not Go As Planned

I wasn’t sure what to expect from the consistency of the creams, but I think I was hoping for something like a gel liner with a creamier finish. My first test shade was Sunny Side, a bright orangey marigold. I even had a matching top ready so I could shoot a cute lil look.

But the moment I dipped in with a brush and tried to build it up—it was a mess. The color separated on my skin and gave me nothing. I tried warming it up on the back of my hand using the included spatula (nice touch, in theory), but the product just broke apart. Crumbly. Patchy. Not the smooth, blendable texture I expected.

I could layer a shadow over it to make it wearable, but the base itself was sheer and not nearly as vibrant as the pan suggests.

Second Attempt: Still Not Giving

Round two, I reached for a pink shade to try a bold winged liner. The more I layered, the more it broke apart—again. I was genuinely disappointed and started to wonder if this was just an overhyped palette built on cute packaging and heavy swatches.

Here’s the Real Problem: Where’s the User Education?

I went straight to their page to see if there were tips on how to use these creams. Just swatches. Other creators seemed to be showing looks with the palette, but no real tutorials. It started to feel like one of those products that looks amazing in a flatlay, but lacks performance and guidance for real-world wear.

There’s a difference between artistry-focused and consumer-friendly. And right now, this product doesn’t fully bridge the gap.

But I Wasn’t Giving Up Yet

As I mentioned, I accidentally ordered two palettes—and I am not the girl who does online returns. So this thing was going to work, one way or another.

And honestly? It does. Just not in the way I thought.

How to Actually Use It (IMO)

If you treat this palette like a color base—not a one-swipe product—it works phenomenally. Layer a matching or contrasting shadow on top, and the pigment clings beautifully. The shades come to life, and you can create dimensional, editorial-level looks. It reminds me of something you’d only find at a MAC Pro store back in the day. That kind of artistry.

For artists or makeup enthusiasts, this is a great tool to have in your kit. But if you're expecting swipe-and-go simplicity? This ain't it.

Final Thoughts: A Mixed Bag, But I’m Still Interested

I'm still getting the hang of it, but I’ve been able to create some really pretty looks with it. The texture is tricky, but the versatility is real—especially if you’re layering. I’ll absolutely be trying more from Made by Mitchell (those lip and cheek palettes are calling my name), but I’ll go into it with more realistic expectations next time.

Haus Labs Foundation review

Let’s dive in and review the new foundation from Haus Labs by Lady Gaga!

At the Sephora I frequent the Haus Labs display is right next the entrance, and everytime I stop to browse I swatch a few things but had yet to commit to any products until now. I’ve been eyeing their foundation for a very long time and finally decided to give it a try!

The Triclone Skin Tech Medium Coverage Foundation is in fact a beautiful base to add to your makeup stash! I do find any foundation that states it has a serum incorporated into its formula peaks my interest, a lot of then tend to have a similar finish but not all of them wear the same way on the skin. The consistency of the formula is light and feels moisturizing like a water based foundation does and settles nicely into the skin without a powder. I like that this foundation is truly buildable as well, a lot of times when a foundation is this hydrating once you’ve laid down your first layer the product can separate on the skin leaving a blotchy or unnatural finish, but that’s not the case here.

I have very acne prone skin and am always in fear of when my next breakout will hit, and as someone who wears makeup consistently my skin can be all over the place sometimes. I also switch up which foundation I use every few days depending on how my skin is behaving, after wearing Haus Labs for a few days I caught myself looking closely in the mirror wondering if my skin had actually improved since I started wearing it. Now, I’ve never heard of a foundation that will clear up a breakout, but this one does contain properties that reduce inflammation and redness in the skin and I think that’s what I was noticing! So, a win is a win!!

When looking at the description used on the Haus Labs site for this foundation I didn’t see any mention of hydration being a key component in the formula but I did find this formula to be very dewy!! This isn’t a complaint I have for this one but I do have very oily skin so wearing this does take a little manipulation on my part in order to get it to wear all day for me. Other than that I do really like the look and feel of this foundation and would love so them expand their line to other powders and foundations!

Danessa Myricks Beauty

Walked into Sephora telling myself I’d just look around, and left with a Foundation, Bronzer, and Palette!

First, the Groundwork Palette. What I love about this is their phenomenal formula in the velvet pomades which could be described as a cream to powder but it’s so much more than that! The velvet pomade truly melts into the skin. I would say it gives a medium but buildable matte finish that’s easy to layer and pair with other products. So far I have used them for eyeshadows, liners, and a lip color and I was thoroughly impressed!

Then we have the Blurring Balm Powder Lowlighter. I love that they’ve coined this product as a “lowlighter” instead of just another contour cream. Of course it’s going to be used as a contour and it will look beautiful, but it also gives such a pretty glow that can enhance and add depth to a look, but I think the name itself emphasizes how it can be used as more than just a contour.

Finally, I was so happy to get my hands on the Yummy Skin Blurring Balm for a new foundation! I had been hearing such good reviews on it the only thing I was waiting on was to try it in person, and  it did not disappoint.

Velvety and lightweight, this foundation glides onto the skin and blends into a really soft matte finish. I was impressed, again. This foundation is unlike a lot any creams I have tried in a very long time, the Yummy Skin doesn’t dry out or enhance texture once it’s applied. I think achieving a ‘velvety’ finish is one of the hardest looks to perfect… picture Tyra’s makeup looks in the 90’s, or Missy Elliot on the cover of Vibe. That’s a velvety makeup look to me, and that’s exactly what this product gives!
